How do you know if a peptide vendor is legit? 12 checks for European buyers
Twelve checks you can run in ten minutes: batch reports, lab verification, EU dispatch, payment, company details and returns. Five shops scored.

Short answer: A legit research peptide vendor can be checked, not just believed: a batch report you can verify on the lab's own site, an EU dispatch address, a payment method you can dispute, a company you can identify and a written returns policy. Purity percentages in marketing copy and testimonials the shop hosts itself are the weakest signals of all.
Disclosure: Peps & Protocols and Vitality Peps share an owner, Bobby Ambaum. We put VP in this comparison anyway, scored on the same checks as everyone else, with links so you can verify every claim.
Everyone's buying peptides online. Almost nobody checks the shop. Ten minutes with the list below beats any forum reply, any influencer code and any five-star badge.
The 12 checks, in one table
| Check | What good looks like | Red flag |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Batch reference | A batch code on the vial that matches a published report | No batch codes anywhere |
| 2. Verifiable report | The report opens on the lab's own domain | Only a PDF hosted by the shop |
| 3. Report scope | Identity, measured amount and purity, method named | "Lab tested" with no document |
| 4. Report date and client | Recent, and you can see whose name is on it | Undated, or one report reused across sizes and years |
| 5. Dispatch origin | A named EU country on the shipping page | Vague "worldwide" or "global warehouse" |
| 6. Payment | At least one method you can dispute, such as card | Crypto only, or a personal bank account |
| 7. Company identity | Registered name, number and an address | A contact form and nothing else |
| 8. Research-use wording | Consistent research-use framing across the site | "Research only" in the footer, health promises in the copy |
| 9. Shipping | Tracked, carrier and timeframe stated | No tracking, no carrier named |
| 10. Lost parcels | A written promise with a number of days | "Contact us" and silence |
| 11. Returns | A written policy that respects EU withdrawal rights for sealed goods | No policy |
| 12. Reviews and domain age | Third-party reviews, mixed and dated; a domain with history | Only on-site five-star reviews; domain registered last month |

Read it honestly. VP wins on payment protection, measured mass on its own pages and the lost-parcel promise. It loses on report freshness, extra tests and showing a registration number. Smart Peptides and Certa publish more tests than VP does. That is the trade-off, in daylight.
Can you provide the exact report tied to the lot I will receive?
This is the one question that sorts the market. A batch report names the batch that was analysed, and your vial carries the same code. A generic report shows that some sample of that compound passed at some point. It tells you nothing about the vial in your parcel.
Also check whose name sits in the "client" field. VP's BPC-157 report, for example, names its supplier's website rather than VP. The batch code still matches, but you deserve to know.
Is Janoshik testing legit, and can a vendor game it?
Janoshik Analytical is a commercial lab in Prague used by most European suppliers. Every report carries a task number and a unique key you can check on the lab's site. If the report resolves there, the report is genuine.
What it cannot prove is that the batch shipped to you is the batch that was sent in. The lab tests what it receives, and the shop usually chooses what to send. That gap is why one showcase report is worth little and a report per batch is the standard to hold everyone to. A standard report covers identity, amount and purity. Endotoxin, sterility and heavy metals are separately priced extras, so if a report does not show them, they were not run.
Does EU dispatch really matter?
Yes. A parcel from one EU country to another is not an import: no declaration, no duty, no customs hold. A parcel from outside the EU, including the UK, is an import that can be declared, taxed, inspected and seized. Ask where the parcel physically leaves from, not where the company says it is based.
EU dispatch removes the border check. It does not change your country's medicines law. See our country pages for the Netherlands, Spain and Germany and Austria.
Why payment method is an underrated trust signal
A shop that takes cards, iDEAL or Bancontact has passed a payment provider's checks and sits under card scheme rules. That gives you a dispute route if goods never arrive. Crypto is not a red flag on its own. Crypto or bank transfer only means every euro of risk sits with you.
Reviews, domains and the 14-day rule
Fake reviews are banned in the EU under the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive as amended in 2019. On-site testimonials with no dates and no negatives are the pattern to distrust. A public WHOIS lookup shows when the domain was registered; a shop launched last month with a five-year review history does not add up.
EU consumers get 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase under the Consumer Rights Directive, with an exception for sealed goods unsealed after delivery for health or hygiene reasons. A sealed vial returned unopened is generally within the right. A legit shop says this plainly.
A clean shop is not a reason to start
Passing all 12 checks proves the shop is organised. It proves nothing about whether a peptide is worth anything to you. That is an evidence question, so look up the grade on our graded peptides hub, and a bloodwork question, so start with the bloodwork guide or the 2-minute check. Want someone to run it with you? That is coaching.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a peptide COA is real?
Open it on the lab's own domain, enter the task number and key, and check that the batch code matches your vial. Then read the date and the client name. A real report for a different batch proves nothing about yours.
Do suppliers test for endotoxin or heavy metals?
Most do not, because these are paid extras on top of the standard identity, amount and purity test. On 12 October 2026 Smart Peptides showed endotoxin and heavy metal reports for current batches and Certa showed endotoxin figures for some lots. Vitality Peps did not show them.
Is a crypto-only vendor a scam?
Not necessarily, but it removes your recourse. A crypto transfer cannot be reversed. If a shop offers no method you can dispute, you carry all the risk.
Are prices far below the market a warning sign?
Worth checking, not dismissing. Compare the same vial size across several EU shops, then compare measured mass in the reports. A large gap usually means a smaller fill, a different compound or a sale price.
Why include Vitality Peps if you share an owner?
Leaving it out would be spin of a different kind. We disclose the link, apply the same checks, show where it loses and link every claim.
